Project Sunshine 2010
Oscar lead a team of students and professionals to a rural Kampong Speu in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 15-28 December 2010. Working closely with Sao Sary Foundation, the team sponsored and built 26 toilets together with the villagers; distributed clothes to slum children; conducted arts & crafts workshop for the at-risk girls at SSF; hosted a Singapore-style Fun Fair for all the children and took all the youth of SSF on a heritage trail to visit the Phnom Penh Museums and genocide centre. In addition, a first aid workshop was taught to villagers on rural emergency care and firstaid materials were distributed. 14 bicycles were sponsored together with 100 school bags. A special OSCAR CREATIVE FUND was set up for the youth to facilitate their dream in small entrepreneurship to evade from poverty.
Plans for Project Sunshine 2011 shall commence in December, with the objective to construct an additional classroom, this includes the purchase of sewing machines and a completion of the wall mural in SSF.
Meanwhile, Oscar is fundraising now to provide Bio-Sand Water Filtration Tanks for 200 families! Those who are interested to help, please find her event in Facebook under [10 years of Clean Water for Kampong Speu!] alternatively you can drop her an email to confirm.
