Curious by nature, Oscar has always been exploring new medium to express art that is relevant to the layperson. Ranging from western painting, ceramic, sculpture, installation art and mixed media work, she seeks to redefine the frontiers of art.
One might remember a YouTube clip that was popular back in 2003. It was a SICAF Korea video, where the first sand art master Hungarian Director Mr. Cako Ferenc performed to officially open the event. Fascinated both by the beauty of the work and the choice of the material, she took on learning sand art herself.
True to her highly-attuned sense of environmental consciousness, her first attempt was on her own coffee table, with sand sieved from the beach of East Coast Park. It was a painful experience as the sand was contaminated with sharp glass bits, gravel, and shell fragments.
Still, Oscar continued her exploration of the medium. It wasn't long before Mediacorp approached her to coach Ms Fann Wong (an A-list artiste) to perform sand art in 2006. Soon after, requests for her craft started to flow in. Her audience range far and wide, from our very own Singaporean President Nathan and ministers to officials from ASEAN, WHO and international guests.
Today, she is sought after for many private, corporate and ministerial events.
Join Oscar as she continues her journey in the world of sand art.
